2008 Hearst Multimedia Award

Wilson created this interactive for one of UNC-CH's award-winning multimedia documentary sites. His class traveled to Patagonia in March 2008 to tell stories about the southernmost regions of South America. This graphic combines Flash interactivity with 3D and 2D graphics to explain how the Earth's ozone is affected by emissions.

Wilson was also on the design team for the main project which received the 2008 ONA Online Award for Student Journalism.

Pickards Mountain Eco-Institute is located near Carrboro, NC, but is miles away from ordinary. Home to an ecologically-friendly garden, a bio-diesel refinery and a quaint living village, this community can teach everyone a few lessons about living with the earth.

Wilson and a group of UNC students teamed up with a reporter from the Washington Post to show how the landscape of Washington D.C. has changed since 1791. Wilson modeled the Capitol building, rendering views of each stage of construction since 1800.

When Benjamin Trueblood was asked about his unique style of composing music, he struggled to draw comparisons. "I don't think there's really a genre for it," he said. Trueblood uses the elements of the outdoors to create a very interesting brand of "sound art."

Wilson spent a week in Boise, Idaho, shooting and editing video of the incredible athletes from across the world. Teamed with a photographer and another videographer, they shot, edited and finalized a documentary a day for five days.

This was the final project for a multimedia design course that focused on web usability and creativity. This storyboard was designed with the hi-def audience of the younger generation in mind. A fully immersive environment would be created by this interactive retrospective.
